Kat Hehnke

I have always gravitated toward work that helps others access their own inner brilliance in order to heal and thrive. After spending a decade as an elementary classroom teacher and administrator, I moved into life coaching. I am a certified Wayfinder Master Coach and have earned a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I’m also an instructor for Wayfinder Life Coach Training. I love coaching and teaching and have extensive experience with thought-work, metaphor, mind-body connection, and mindfulness.

I’ve felt drawn to being a therapist for a very long time. Now as an empty nester, I’m thrilled to bring a lifetime of personal and professional experience together to serve clients in this next role.

I’m most passionate about equine-assisted therapy. I am a certified Equus Coach, so I have witnessed over and over again the insight, healing, and breakthroughs that happen when a client connects with a horse while working through their challenges, traumas, and stuckness. Horses are incredibly generous and honest partners during a session for the client and for the therapist. You do not need any horse experience as a client to try equine-assisted therapy, so if it sounds amazing, it absolutely is and I hope you’ll give it a try!

I’m deeply committed to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and am part of this community. I’m a very proud mom of an adult child who is transgender and non-binary, so while I cannot know the experience, I feel honored when I can support someone who is walking it.

My therapeutic lens is “parts psychology” meaning we each have a system of parts within us that we can learn to bring into harmony. This lens is best and most fully captured in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and can also be thought of in terms of body-mind-heart-soul, Social Self and Essential Self as described by Martha Beck, or any number of ways that is most helpful. My goal as a therapist with this lens is to help you discover and bring into harmony parts of you that may be in conflict, however you may describe those parts.

My intention in all of the work I do with any client is to help you discover what is most true for you and to help you navigate any barriers to living within your own values and version of joy on a path that works best for you.

Outside of sessions, my favorite activities are hanging out with horses, reading, being outdoors, movies, and most of all, hanging out with my partner and our amazing family.
