Cheryl Jordan

Welcome! I am Cheryl Jordan, a licensed clinical mental health counselor. I am trained in play therapy and trauma-based treatments (EMDR and ART). I also specialize in helping children, teens and adults with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss. I have a special interest in helping neurodiverse individuals and their parents(ADHD, Autism, etc.) increase self-advocacy and decrease shame.

After a big life change (moving, death of family members, family transitions), sometimes you just need someone to help you through it. I worked in hospice care for over a decade and have had extensive experience in helping those who are grieving. My approach is person- centered and trauma-focused and I want to see life improve for you.

As an adoptive parent, I understand the complexities of parenting through adoption and trauma. I also sought counseling for my children throughout their lives and know how important it is for both children and their parents to feel supported. One of the most life-shaping experiences I have ever had was taking part in a 9 month DBT family course with my spouse and teenager. I learned so much and still use the skills in nearly every therapy session.

As a licensed physical therapist, I also can offer compassion and insight into both physical and emotional suffering. Chronic illness, somatic related ailments, attachment issues, learning challenges, sensory processing disorder and parenting struggles are all areas of special interest for me. I enjoy working with parents as well as children.

Although mental health can take time to heal, I also believe that life can and should improve in the short term. I love to provide a place where you can be honest and we can work together to help you (and your children/teens) feel better about life.
